聯合國和人權團體估計，新疆上百萬維吾爾族穆斯林等被拘留。近日新疆問題成為國際焦點，11月19日，歐洲議會通過決議，譴責中國政府在新疆限制少數民族人權及宗教信仰自由，對美國國會近期通過的涉疆法案表示歡迎。而在亞洲的印尼雅加達，有示威者在中國大使館外聲援新疆維吾爾族。
今日「學生歷量」在中環愛丁堡廣場舉行「聲援維吾爾族人權集會」。下午3:30開始，有數千人聚集。台前藍色星月旗飄揚，象徵支持維吾爾族，掛上「今日新疆 明日香港」橫幅。有人高舉英國旗及美國旗，呼籲國際支持。
The United Nations and human rights groups estimate that millions of Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang are being detained. Recently, the Xinjiang issue has become an international focus. On November 19, the European Parliament passed a resolution condemning the Chinese government’s restriction on the human rights and freedom of religious belief of ethnic minorities in Xinjiang, and welcomed the recent Xinjiang-related bill passed by the US Congress. In Jakarta, Indonesia, there are demonstrations in solidarity with Xinjiang Uighurs outside the Chinese embassy.
Today, the “Student Power” held a “Rally for Uighur Human Rights” at Edinburgh Place, Central. Thoysands of people gathered at 3:30 pm. The blue “Star and Moon” flag flying in front of the stage symbolises support for the Uighurs. A banner read “Xinjiang Today, Hong Kong Tomorrow”. Some people raised the British and American flags and called for international support.
