New Yorker Dinah, who loves cultural heritage/conservation and photography, savours the historical Lik Wing Tong Study Hall in Kam Tin. Located at 85 Shui Tau Village, it is also known as the Big Study Hall, and was built by the descendants of Tang Li-yuen, head of the Tang clan in Kam Tin, before 1835 (the 15th year of Emperor Tao Kwong in the Qing Dynasty). It was a private school for the children of the village.

The study hall oozes history with special character. With the establishment of new schools in Kam Tin District, teaching ceased in the 1950s. Owing to a long period of disrepair, the government invested more than $2 million for its restoration, which was completed in 2004. It was then listed as a Grade II historical building and open to the public.
