銀柳屬楊柳科。在早春，雄柳絮開花之前，它們被細小的灰色皮毛覆蓋，與小貓相似，英文名叫Pussy Willow。

Pussy willow is a name given to the genus Salix (willows and sallows). In early spring, before the male catkins come into full flower they are covered in fine, greyish fur, leading to a fancied likeness to tiny cats, also known as “pussies”.
