The Cheung clan in Shan Ha Tsuen (village), Yuen Long, held a Tai Ping Ching Chiu, an extravagant spiritual purification festival, from January 13-17, 2021. More than 10 Chinese traditional flower billboards were erected inside and outside the village as Taoist priests set up altars to chant and pray for the villagers.

The last Tai Ping Ching Chiu at Shan Ha Tsuen was held in 2011 and it is held once every decade. The main purpose is to pray for blessings and avoid disasters, to benefit the Yin and Yang, to pray to the gods, and to transcend the underworld. Among them, the grand ceremonies are to make offerings to and later burn the Ghost King.

This year, due to the pandemic, the crowd was less, unlike the past. The Chinese opera was replaced by puppet shows, and the celebration was held in a low-key manner.
