馬灣島田寮的芳園書室1900年代前乃陳氏興建的「陳氏書齋」。1920年重建為具西式風格的建築，並易名為「芳園書室」，於2003年停止舉辦學校，被評級為香港三級歷史建築，是馬灣唯一被保留的戰前小學。
芳園書室樓高兩層，樓面面積約140平方米，是糅合了中國及西方建築風格的長方形建築物。書室前面有一座小花園。前庭與花園為矮磚圍牆所包圍，入口有一道與書室建築風格相同的拱門。二樓設有露台。
Fong Yuen Study Hall in Tin Liu, Maw Wan Island, was built by the Chan family before the 1900s as Chan Clan Study Hall. In 1920, it was rebuilt as Western-style building and renamed as Fong Yuan Study Hall. The school ceased to operate in 2003 and was named a Grade III historical building. It is the only pre-war primary school preserved in Ma Wan.
The school is 2-storey high, with a floor area of about 140 sq. m. It is a rectangular building that combines Chinese and Western architectural styles, with a small garden in front. The front yard and garden are surrounded by a low brick wall, and the arched entrance has a similar architectural style. There is a balcony on the second floor.
