前中央警署建築群建於1841年至1925年之間,有16座歷史建築,包括前中央警署、前域多利監獄、前中央裁判司署。
該址擁有可追溯至19世紀中葉的豐富歷史,包括一些在英國殖民統治下建造的最早建築。
場地位於香港中環荷李活道,中環中心的黃金地段,是一組獨特的低層建築群。
它已按照最高規格復修活化,並於2018年5月29日重開為「大館」向公眾開放。
The Former Central Police Station Compound, built between 1841 and 1925, comprises 16 historic building grouped under the former Central Police Station, the Former Central Magistracy and the Victoria Prison.
With a rich history dating back to the mid-19th century, the site comprises some of the earliest structures built under British colonial rule.
The compound is a unique cluster of relatively low-rise buildings sitting in a prime location in the heart of Central. In 1995, the compound was listed as Declared Monuments.
It underwent a heritage revitalisation at the highest standards and reopened to the public on 29 May 2018 as “Tai Kwun”, a centre for heritage and arts.
