Abandoned Hei Tsz Wan Village
Hei Tsz Wan near Sheung Yiu, Sai Kung is a totally abandoned village, formerly occupied by a Wong Hakka clan. There are many abandoned village houses, and this house can be seen with a plague vaguely written “Pang Shing Hall”. The ground floors of these houses are of normal height but the first floors are cramped, sleeping space only, with hardly enough room to stand up. Some collapsing houses can be seen along the path.
The Sheung Yiu Folk Museum nearby was the site of 8 former fortified Hakka houses occupied by the Wong clan that dates back to the late 19th century. It is now a small museum and a Declared Monument housing typical Hakka furniture and artifacts.
