Terrazzo is a decorative material. It is characterized by its long-lasting colour, high plasticity, and a seamless application that is easy to clean. Before the war or in the 50s and 60s, it was often used in places frequently touched by people. For example, stairs, halls, or market countertops. Terrazzo is actually a Western-style imitation stone craft, commonly known as “Italian plaster”. Hong Kong’s terrazzo is made of cement mixed with quartz stone instead of marble pieces in Italian plaster.
